Editorial policy
Editors decide what we cover and recommend. Commissions don't. We check facts against their sources, label where every claim comes from, use AI tools only under human review, and correct mistakes openly.

Independence from retailers and brands
AdultToysForLess earns money from affiliate commissions (see our affiliate disclosure). Commissions don’t decide which products we recommend or how we order them. When a cheaper product is good enough, our value picks say so, even though it earns us less.
We don’t accept payment for reviews, rankings, awards or placement on any page. If a brand sends us a product for a hands-on review, the review says so, and the brand doesn’t see or approve it before publication.
How products are chosen
We separate recommendations from listings:
- Recommendations (buying-guide picks, “best value” choices, reviews) only include products an editor has approved. A script can’t make a product recommendable.
- Listings, such as the automatic sections of our deals page and catalogue lists inside guides, show products from the retailer’s feed that match set rules (type, price, a genuine reduction). They say they’re listings, not recommendations.
Products are kept off the site by default when their listing makes health claims, has no price or buy link, can’t be categorised, or duplicates another listing.
Fact-checking and sources
- Specifications and claims in our writing are checked against their source before publication.
- Facts are labelled by origin: Manufacturer-stated, Retailer listing,Third-party source, or Measured by us (hands-on reviews only).
- Pages list the sources they relied on, such as manuals, manufacturer documentation and studies.
- When a specification isn’t published, we say Not stated rather than guess.
- We write our own descriptions. Our publishing system flags product text that repeats the retailer’s marketing copy.
- Prices and stock come from the retailer feed, show their date, and update automatically.
Testing claims
We only say we tested, tried, used or measured a product when a named person on our team did, and the page records who, when and how we got it. Pages without that evidence are labelled research-based and can’t be published with testing language. The full rules are in how we review products.
Health, safety and expertise
Nothing on this site is medical advice. Our pages are not written or reviewed by doctors, nurses or sex therapists unless a page names the person and their qualification, and none currently do. We don’t invent personas or claim credentials we don’t have.
Health and body-safety claims need evidence from a health authority or peer-reviewed research before we repeat them, and we link that evidence. Claims such as “body-safe” or “medical-grade” from a brand are shown as manufacturer claims, not verified facts. If you have pain, an injury or a health concern, talk to a medical professional.
Use of AI tools
We use AI tools in parts of our work, and we want to be specific about where. AI output is treated like an unchecked note: it’s never published without a person verifying it against primary sources.
AI tools may help with
- Research organization: sorting specifications, manuals and listings into notes we can compare.
- Drafting: first drafts of sections, which an editor rewrites and checks.
- Editing: suggestions for clarity, grammar and consistency.
- Structured comparisons: laying out stated specifications side by side so gaps are easy to see.
People on our editorial team remain responsible for
- Factual checking: specifications and claims in our writing are checked against their source; prices and stock come from the retailer feed and carry their date.
- Page selection: which topics we cover and which products a page includes.
- Affiliate recommendations: which products we recommend, and for whom.
- Product categorization: our import script suggests a category from the listing; an editor confirms it before the product can be recommended.
- Publication: no article, guide or review is published without an editor approving it.
AI tools are never credited as authors, never presented as having used a product, and AI-generated images are never presented as product photos.
Bylines
Every page shows who is responsible for it. Research-based and editorial pages are published under oureditorial team byline. A hands-on review names the person who used the product.
Images
We use non-explicit product photography only. Product images come from the retailer unless a hands-on review shows our own photos.
Updates and corrections
The “Updated” date on a page shows its last substantive change. When we get something wrong, we fix it and, if the error could have affected a buying decision, add a note to the page saying what changed. To report a mistake, contact the editors with the page address and what’s wrong.
